The polls for this by election closed at 10 pm and by 11 counting was underway with 3 of the 4 ballet boxes in the hall, the 4th having been held up in traffic. The by election was caused by the sad and unexpected death of the incumbent, Steven Dehnel. The late councillor’s son, Charles, managed to hold the seat for the conservative in Ashford Borough council.

The runner up was the Green candidate, Geoff Meaden, a local parish councillor and resident of Old Wives Lees.

Our Lib Dem candidate, Adrian Gee-Turner, a local businessman and experienced councillor came third. He was followed by:
Ashford Independent, Rachael Carling, Independent; Sarah Williams (Chair of Molash PC), UKIP and Labour came last.
