Southern Water plan Bentley Road takeover!

October 12, 2008 6:00 PM

Cllr Brian Norris

Southern Water are proposing to take over virtually all of the ex-youth club area around Bentley Road - leaving a small corridor for access to the South Willesborough footbridge.

The site will be a works compound while a new sewage system is laid from the Cheesemans Green Development site to the sewerage works.

The proposed route for the sewer will take it from Alsops Road via Bentley Road to Hunter Avenue and then on to Hunter Road,

Foxglove and across the motorway (these last two are still on the drawing board while they figure a way across Hythe Road and the motorway!!)

The plan is to start early next year and take 18 months to complete whilst shutting sections of roads off and diverting traffic. A petition has been raised against the takeover of the field - not only because of the loss of the field but also because heavy traffic is unsuitable for the area.

This petition has the full support of local Liberal Democrat Cllr Brian Norris, commenting - "with all the other disruptions past, present and future, Aylesford Green Ward needs some respite."

To sign the petition please ring Cllr Brian Norris on 01233 631349 and he will arrange a form to be dropped off and collected. Don't forget to ask the neighbours to sign as well.

EDF Energy are going to start laying a new cable down Osborne Road at the same time from the Church to Hunter Road where it will join the Southern Water trench!!!!
