Railway Museum could open soon

Plans will be going to Full Council for approval of a small railway museum within the Church Yard. I welcome the proposal to turn the Old Tourist Information Centre into a Railway Museum. There are many people in our town who hoped that a major Railway Museum could be created within the Klondyke Railway Shed or somewhere else in the Newtown Works. This, however, is unlikely for the foreseeable future due to funding.

Ashford's economy and social history is inextricably founded on the arrival of the railway in 1842 and the decision of the South Eastern Railway Company to build the Railway Works in the Town in 1846. I therefore welcome the proposal for the Railway Museum and wish the project all best for its future.
