Chris Took, Ashford Liberal Democrats Parliamentary candidate, has thanked voters for their support.
Chris secured second place after winning 12,581 votes across Ashford, Tenterden and the villages, an increase of 7.2%
Damian Green won the seat comfortably for the Conservative party with 29,878 votes, an increase in vote share of 2.7%
Speaking after the count with the local media Chris said "It has been an exhausting campaign and I'm pleased that we reached our minimum expectation of second place. It would have been nice if our total was a little higher and the Conservative total was a little lower but we will build on this result in our campaign for next years local elections."
"I'd like to thank everyone for voting, whether you voted Liberal Democrat or not. A turnout of nearly 70% is a tremendous advert for democracy in our constituency."
