Liberal Democrats in Ashford have hit out at the government's failure to listen to the concerns of people in Ashford over post office closures.
The Government announced on Tuesday that the future of Hythe Road, South Ashford and South Willesborough Post Offices will be decided in just six weeks time.
Ashford Liberal Democrats have posted on their website full details for everyone wanting to have their say in the consultation process - a process that the government have said they will listen to.
Local Lib Dem campaigner Chris Took said, "It is outrageous that the Government have ignored the concerns of local people and are continuing with their plan to close at least 2,500 post offices across the UK. I would urge as many local people as possible to visit our website, www.ashfordlibdems.org.uk, sign our petition or write to those in charge of the consultation process and save our post offices."
"If, instead of initiating a further round of cuts, the Government were to adopt Liberal Democrats plans for the Post Office then they would be able to invest an additional £2 billion in the network and safeguard the future of local post offices for years to come."
"The Conservatives have nothing to offer our post offices. They closed more than 3000 the last time they were in power. Only the Liberal Democrats have a fully-funded plan to save the post office."
