Dr Jon Heuch has been chosen as the official Liberal Democrat candidate for the vacant Ashford Borough Council council seat of Charing.
Jon has lived in the Charing area for nearly a decade. Like just over one hundred people in Charing, Jon runs his own business.
Before he and his family settled in Charing Jon was involved in international development, filling up many a passport stamp and spending several years both Fiji & Nepal.
Jon thinks Charing is a great place to live but unsuitable developments can always threaten this.
For this reason he welcomes the Village appraisal and the village design statements as providing a lead on the priorities and styles of development that we want.
Locally, Jon has been active in reducing the effects of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link . Jon chairs the Heaths Countryside Corridor - an initiative to improve the environment nearby the CTRL. Three areas have now been purchased and are being used for recreational and
educational purposes for all Charing residents. (www.heathscc.co.uk if you want to know more...new members are always welcome!)
Sue, his wife teaches locally and their two children go to school in Ashford.
In his spare time, Jon is a member of The Green Health Club and is aiming to run the London Marathon. As a warm up you can spot him along the lanes near Westwell on February 5th when he will compete in the Ashford and District 10km run.
Additionally, Jon has been helping the Parish Council as the parish Tree Warden.
