As a parliamentary candidate local Lib Dem Chris Took is used to facing stiff competition.
This years Ashford 10k is on Sunday 9 October 2005, visit www.ashford10k.co.uk for more details
Last year Chris competed in the Ashford 10k road race, clocking a time of just over an hour. This year he hopes to raise more money for his charity WaterAid and hopes to post a time of under 50 minutes.
This years competition though comes with a twist. Chris will not just be running against the clock or racing to raise more money, he will also be running against his wife, Josie.
"I had been training for about two weeks when Jo decided that she wanted to be involved too" said Chris. "Josie spurred me on throughout the election campaign and always kept my spirits high. She has been just the same with the race, pushing me to go out and train even when it's been a bit wet outside!"
'Team Took' are hoping to raise over £300 for WaterAid, a charity dedicated to providing clean water for the world's poorest people.
As to the question as to who will win Chris added "it doesn't really matter. I'll buy dinner whatever the result!"
